WHAT/WHY/WHO/WHERE

The wafting aroma of spices, from the teasingly spicy cinnamon to the pungent garam masala to the "pinch" of chili powder. The sizzling onions and the juicy tomatoes ferociously combining. The sweet and sugary halva melting on your tongue. The cool and tangy yogurt bringing the entire meal together. The clattering pots and pans combined with the wiping of a thousand spills. The screams of laughter with the shrieks of anger when someone broke a plate. The boxes of masala lined up so neatly. The apron that had so many memories yet so many stains. This was our chaotic, delicious-smelling, and simply amazing kitchen.

This was just a glance into the most delicious place of all; the place where recipes hundreds of years old were combined with ever-changing dishes and innovative ideas, the place where tantalizing Pakistani dishes were combined with Chicago's unique cuisine, the place that became not just another room in the house, but rather a place of learning, of love, of laughter.
