A plate of steaming hot spicy biryani, a stack of fluffy, buttery naan, a bowl of nihari filled with nothing but flavor and nostalgia-- in the past, if we were ever craving some of these delicious dishes, we'd have to look up the restaurant, place an order, then either drive to the restaurant or wait for it to be delivered. And while that experience can be fun, Ammi and I (and I'm sure all of you) have those days where we just want some great food in under five minutes and from the comfort of our home. Now, we have the perfect solution for those hungry, lazy days: we keep our freezer stocked with Anmol's line of frozen products!
If you didn't know, Anmol is a local South Asian restaurant known for it's great food and ambiance. Our family has been eating at Anmol for years, and it's our go-to for celebrations and special occasions. Recently, in an effort to make their food more accessible especially during Covid-19, Anmol began selling and shipping their food nationwide. The process is very simple: order from their online shop and receive your favorite dishes frozen and ready to serve whenever you want!
Anmol was kind enough to let Ammi and I try out their frozen food experience. It took about a day and a half for our order to get delivered, and when it came, all of the food was perfectly packaged and frozen. We received chicken biryani, chicken makhani, beef nihari, and taftaan.
In terms of the freshness, we'd give a 9/10 (we seriously could not even tell that the food had been frozen!!). The rice in the chicken biryani did have a slight texture, but it wasn't too noticeable and the flavor was still pretty good. The chicken makhani was SO creamy, and when combined with the buttery naan, it was a perfect match! And then the nihari-- where do I begin? Anmol's nihari has always been my personal favorite so I was quite curious to see how the frozen version would compare. I was not disappointed! It was the perfect balance of spicy, thick gravy with tender beef and had the signature great taste that Anmol's food always has.
Reheating:
We found that the best method for reheating the food was to let it defrost overnight in the fridge and then heat it up on our stovetop. We'd also highly recommend topping the food with fresh garnishes, like cilantro, chilies peppers, and ginger. It's also preferable to add a dash of cream to the chicken makhani and a splash of water to the nihari when heating it up, as salaans/curries can dry out a little in after being frozen.
Ever since Ammi and I tried Anmol's frozen products, we've been recommending them to all of our friends and family, especially to those who live in a more remote area without many options for South Asian food or halal food. It's perfect for Eid, because no one wants to spend hours in the kitchen on Eid day. This is also a really great gift idea, simply order one of Anmol's bundle packs and have it delivered to your loved ones!
We hope you enjoyed reading about Anmol's products as much as we enjoyed trying and reviewing them!
We'd love if you could leave your comments, suggestions, and thoughts. Would you try Anmol's Frozen Food??
