If you're familiar with Pakistani/Indian cuisine, chances are you know and love imli ki chutney (tamarind chutney). Made from a delicious blend of tamarind and jaggery (imli and gur), this sweet-and-sour sauce becomes an instant favorite.

I remember the first time I made it, I literally ate it with everything, from fries to chana chaat and even sandwiches. It truly creates an unmatchable flavor.

If finding tamarind is hard, tamarind paste can be used too, just boil it with water longer and remove the soaking step from the recipe. From personal experience, however, fresh tamarind tastes better.

Jaggery is similar to brown sugar but has a more complex flavor. It can be replaced with brown sugar, tempera sugar, granulated sugar, etc, but the final taste might not be the same. The spices can be adjusted for your preferences.

Now that you know how simple it is to make this tangy, khatti meethi, and addictive chutney, what are you waiting for? Definitely give it a try and be ready to eat it with everything!

Let's start cooking!
